It’s no secret that the Washington D.C., “Chocolate City”, Native Singer Songwriter Eva BitterSuite is a favourite here at Independent Hype. More than a Songwriter, this is a woman that understands composition, mood, and melody.

Eva! was born Evangeline ‘Eva! BitterSuite’ Chijioke Njoku’s in America’s “Chocolate City” of Washington D.C. but proudly claims her African roots with her Nigerian parents as she relishes in her diverse culture. Full of energy as a child, Eva! developed the bug to perform as early as the age of four. She began writing poetry (and songs) at the age of nine with dreams to one day bring her lyrics to life. The phenomenal credentials as a singer songwriter has deservedly won her several vocal accolades and seen her grace the stage at the legendary Apollo Theatre and DC’s Blues Alley supper club.

Extending her talent, Eva! has completed theatre runs on heavyweight productions including the musicals “RAGTIME” and “Wild Party” as well as the episodic play ”Vagina Monologues”.  She has penned material for other artists and supported background vocals on several other projects including “Turn to Dust” album by Wes Glover, Jr. aka “DJ StrongSongz;” and the poetic-styled single “Autobiography of L.O.V.E.” with local DJ “Smooth.”

2015 saw Eva! release her first CD project “BitterSuite Love” a vigorous fast tempo track fluent in funk.  Fast forward to her latest offering ‘Locked on 7’ #Rebirth2Nirvana and we are again served with the richest mix of jazz, funk and soul grooves including ‘I Feel Free’ and ‘I Can’t 4get’. Not a single instrument or sample feels out of place or wasted. She gives you exactly what you need, no more no less. While there’s a number of tracks in her catalog that knock with the same aggression as some of the more recognisable stateside mainstays, Eva mostly lulls the listener into a groove with tracks that are stripped-down yet far from simplistic. Eva’s talent and love of music is stronger than ever as she continues to pave out an envious career with her band BitterSuite.

Let’s see and overstand why Eva BitterSuite brings us meaning:
